17-02-2023 : Chetan Sharma, the BCCI Chief Selector, has resigned from his position following a recent sting operation. In the sting operation, Sharma revealed that players were taking injections to expedite their recovery from injuries and improve their chances of selection.
This shocking revelation has caused controversy in the cricketing world, leading to questions about the integrity of the selection process and the health of the players. Sharma also revealed a clash of egos between former captain Kohli and former BCCI president Ganguly and alleged that there was a difference of opinion between him and the team management regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s return from a stress fracture for the T20I series against Australia in September.
He further suggested that younger players were being given opportunities in the T20I game under the guise of resting senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and that Pandya is being groomed as Rohit’s long-term replacement.
