Confederation invited Dr Anju Bala, Ex MP, Member NCSC at Social Justice Event

Jammu, 16.12.21: All India Confederation of SC ST OBC Organisations held a social justice get together at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, Jammu wherein Dr Anju Bala, Ex MP, Member of National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Sh Kaushal Kumar and Sh AK Sahu, Directors NCSC, Sh BK Bhola, private secretary to Dr Anju Bala participated along with cadre of the Confederation, members of various religious and social organisations. Various issues of the SC/ST/OBC community were discussed at the event.

RK Kalsotra, State President Confederation, said that earlier we had a telephonic conversation with Dr Anju Bala (Daughter of the soil) and invited her to J&K. She graciously accepted the invite and was amongst us wherein she was felicitated and honoured with a memento, shawl and a bouquet. Kalsotra added that she had been a close associate of the Confederation and has been working for Ambedkarite school of thought.

Various other organisations which felicitated Dr Anju Bala, Chief Guest and presented their memorandum were Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (Shah Mohammad Ch), All J&K Masha Sadar Sabha (Working President Kali Das), Batwal Sabha (Dr Ramesh Kaith), Barwala Sabha (President Cap. Biru Ram), Dalit Satya Academy (Gen Secretary Dr Vijay Bhagat), Polytechnic SC/ST Lecturer Forum (Lect. Pawan Kumar), Inter District SC Employees Association (Raj Kumar Atri and Mohanlal Sarmal), Shri Guru Kabir Sabha (Raj Kumar Bhagat), Scheduled Caste JKAS Officer (Ramesh Uttma), National Movement for Old Pension Schemes (Anil Kumar), Legal Fraternity Group (Adv. Sushil Kumar), J&K Agriculture SC/ST/OBC Employees (Sat Pal Dogra), Youth Representative (JR Chopra, Ishtiaq Bhatti) and NSYF (Balwinder Kumar).

Kalsotra said that a memorandum of demands was also presented to her in which the various issues were highlighted faced by SC/ST/OBC community. These demands being Restoration of Reservation in Promotions, Clearance of Backlog, Shifting Director Office of NCSC at Chandigarh and Regional office at Jammu, Age Relaxation in the government recruitment examinations and posts like Sub Inspector, JKAS of 5 years for SC, ST and 3 years for OBC, renewed counselling for Paramedical Diploma Courses by BOPEE which issued the notification after the counselling was over for reserved category students, rising cases of caste based atrocities, implementation for 27% Reservation for OBC as per Mandal Commission Report.

Dr Anju Bala said that since she has been feliciated and given the honour of Daughter of the Soil, she wouldn’t let down the aspirations of the people of J&K and would put these demands up the channel of authority with utmost urgency. She also extended her gratitude to the Confederation and the leadership of RK Kalsotra who has been a mentor in her endeavours. She also promised that a new regional office of NCSC would be opened up at Jammu. She stated that she would also recommend these issues to NCST and NCBC.

Sh Kaushal Kumar, Director NCSC, made the participants aware about the role and duties of National Commission and encouraged the participants to actively engage with the Commission regarding any such grievances or issues.

Adv. Shah Mohammad Ch, Chairman Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, highlighted that the current proposals of the administration are directed at dilution of ST status by inclusion of elite classes under the ST status. He requested the commission to recommend the issue to NCST.

Ramesh Uttma, Senior JKAS officer, presented the vote of thanks and extended gratitude to the Commission and the Confederation for putting up a platform for this event. Roshan Choudhary was the stage secretary for the event.
