06-07-2023 : The Congress party has appointed former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union president, Kanhaiya Kumar, as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of its students’ wing, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). The decision was made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and was announced by KC Venugopal, the Congress General Secretary of the organization.
Kanhaiya Kumar’s appointment as the AICC in-charge of NSUI comes into effect immediately. The NSUI is a prominent student organization affiliated with the Congress party and plays a vital role in mobilizing student support and representing their interests within the party.
Kanhaiya Kumar gained prominence during his tenure as the President of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU). Known for his eloquence and activism, he has been actively involved in various political movements and has often been a vocal critic of the ruling government. Kumar’s participation in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, further solidified his connection with the Congress party and its leadership.
The appointment of Kanhaiya Kumar as the AICC in-charge of NSUI is significant as it showcases the party’s efforts to tap into the energy and enthusiasm of young leaders and engage with the student community. Kumar’s experience as a student leader and his active involvement in various social and political movements make him a suitable candidate for this responsibility.
With this appointment, Kanhaiya Kumar will now play a crucial role in shaping the policies, campaigns, and strategies of the NSUI. He will work closely with the leadership of the NSUI, led by Neeraj Kundan, to strengthen the organization, promote the interests of students, and mobilize young voters.
This move by the Congress party reflects its recognition of the importance of youth engagement and student politics in shaping the future of the country. It also indicates the party’s focus on rejuvenating its student wing and nurturing young leaders who can effectively represent the aspirations and concerns of the student community.
