JAMMU, MARCH 24: In view of the ensuing Kharif season, a meeting of Pesticide manufacturers and distributors of Jammu Division was convened by Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Kashmir, Mohammad Iqbal Choudhary at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu. The intend of the meeting was to review preparedness for the timely supply of Quality Plant Protection Chemicals in JK UT.
Director Agriculture Jammu, K.K. Sharma, Plant Protection Officer, Devinder Sharma, Assistant Director Law Enforcement, Roshan Lal Bhagat, Enforcement Inspector, Kashmir Singh, and representatives of the PP Chemical manufacturing units/distributors attended the meeting besides others.
Underlining the importance of high-quality PP Chemicals in the agriculture/ horticulture sector Director Agriculture Kashmir who is also Controller Pesticides, JK UT instructed the representatives of manufacturing units to ensure the supply of good quality plant protection material to the farmers. He impressed upon the concerned officers to focus on HR Development by frequently conducting sensitization training for the individuals engaged in pesticide business regarding modus operandi to be followed at different stages.
Director Agriculture Jammu, K. K. Sharma welcoming the participants impressed on the Law Enforcement agency for regular sampling and testing of PP Chemicals to ensure tracing of fake/spurious pesticides.
Controller Pesticide outlined the necessity of upgrading the Pesticide Testing Laboratory to cover more molecules which are currently being got tested from outside UT and take a long time. He stressed for digitalization of the process of registration and issuance of pesticide licenses to the applicants within the stipulated time frame. Further road map for 2021-22 for streamlining the system of qualitative and time-bound supply of pesticide and insecticide was also discussed in the meeting.
Earlier Director Agriculture Jammu, K. K. Sharma welcoming the participants impressed on the Law Enforcement agency for regular sampling and testing of PP Chemicals to ensure tracing of fake/spurious pesticides. He further called for proper monitoring of the functioning of pesticide manufactures, whole-sellers, and dealers with timely reporting to the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu /Kashmir. He also stressed the strict enforcement of quality parameters to resolve various constraints in the supply of high-grade agriculture inputs to raise farm production and productivity.
