Cops, traders together can improve law & order: Arun Gupta, President CCI

26-03-2021:The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu on Friday called for better ties between traders and the police department for ensuring better law and order situation in the region.

President CCI Jammu Arun Gupta said that strengthening ties between cops and the business community can be of great help in containing the crime and improving the law and order in the region. He was speaking at a glittering function organized by the CCI Jammu to felicitate the outgoing SSP Jammu Shridar Patil and the new incumbent Chandan Kohli.

Earlier, Gaurav Gupta, CCI General Secretary presented the welcome address. He gave a detailed overview of the functioning of the CCI Jammu Chapter and introduced the guests to the audience.

SSP Traffic Jammu City, Shiv Kumar, other senior functionaries of J&K Police, representatives of various Bazaars of Jammu were also present.

The President CCI while felicitating both the officers applauded the extraordinary services rendered by the outgoing SSP Jammu. He said that liaison between traders and the cops saw a new chapter of cooperation under his term. He said that CCI also expects that the cordial relationship which grew between traders and the cops during the time of SSP Patil will not only continue under the realms of new SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli but it will further improve to the next level for the betterment of one and all living in Jammu.

The President CCI along with his team also presented a shawl and a memento to the guest officers. Besides, SSP Traffic Jammu City, Shiv Kumar was also honoured for his exemplary services.

Speaking on the occasion, Shridar Patil expressed gratitude to the traders’ body for the honour it gave and termed his tenure as SSP Jammu extremely satisfying. He also praised the people of Jammu especially the traders’ community for being law-abiding citizens and promoters of peace. He said that the moments spend in Jammu are memorable and he will cherish them for a long.

Chandan Kohli, SSP Jammu said that the responsibility on his shoulders has been redoubled after the momentous stint of his predecessor Shridar Patil. He in a very humble note said that he will try his best to ensure that people feel safe and confident under his spell as SSP Jammu. “Peace and crime-free society will be my first and foremost priority”, he asserted while thanking CCI for the honour it extended by organizing this function. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by General Secretary CCI Jammu.

A vote of thanks was present by Sr. Vice President Sh. Anil Gupta.

The other office-bearers of CCI present in the meeting included Jr. Vice President Rajeev Gupta and Rajesh Gupta Secretary.
