25-04-2023 : In a recent operation, the Jammu and Kashmir police have busted an immoral trafficking racket in Handwara sub-district, arresting five individuals, including a couple. This marks the third sex racket that has been busted in Kashmir within a month.
Acting on information received from reliable sources, the police conducted a raid at the house of Shabir Ahmad War in Reshipora, Handwara, where the sex racket was found to be operating. Five individuals, including the house owner and his wife, one sex worker, and two customers, were arrested at the scene. Cash amounting to Rs 47,800 was also recovered during the raid.
The arrested individuals were identified as Rayees Ahmed Lone of Dangerpora, Rafiabad, Bilal Ahmad Sheikh of Binner, Baramulla, Shabir Ahmad War, and his wife.
A case has been registered at Police Station Kralgund under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation has been initiated. Earlier, on April 3, another prostitution racket was busted in Srinagar, followed by a second one in the city a few days later. The police continue their efforts to crack down on illegal activities and maintain law and order in the region.
