New Delhi, July 16: Delhi University has started the Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) trial process for undergraduate admissions 2026, marking an important phase for students seeking admission through special activity-based categories.
The university announced that physical assessments for ECA applicants would begin from July 16 across designated venues. The trials are being conducted as part of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) admission process for undergraduate programmes.
Thousands of applicants participating in categories such as music, dance, theatre, fine arts, debate and other activities are expected to appear for performance-based evaluations. Candidates will be assessed by expert panels before final scores are added to the admission process.
ECA Quota Provides Additional Opportunity for Students
The ECA category allows students with achievements beyond academics to compete for seats based on their skills and accomplishments in various fields.
University officials have advised candidates to carefully check their individual trial schedules and report to the assigned venues on time. Students coming from outside Delhi have also been encouraged to plan their travel arrangements due to the offline nature of most assessments.
Unlike several other categories, applicants applying under National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) categories will not require physical trials.
Admission Process Moves Towards Final Phase
The ECA evaluation process is expected to play a crucial role in determining admissions for students who have demonstrated excellence in co-curricular activities.
After completion of trials, candidates will receive scores that will contribute to the final admission process. DU has also provided grievance redressal mechanisms for applicants facing issues during the evaluation process.
The academic session for undergraduate programmes is scheduled to begin later in July, with universities preparing to complete admission formalities before classes commence.
