NEW DELHI, Sept 8: Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 24.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, 0.9 degrees below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather department forecast partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius.
Several weather stations across the national capital recorded temperatures below normal. Palam registered a minimum of 22.6 degrees Celsius, which was 2.6 degrees below normal, while Lodi Road recorded 24.3 degrees Celsius, 0.7 degrees below the seasonal average.
The Ridge station recorded the lowest minimum temperature among the listed locations at 20.8 degrees Celsius, 3.7 degrees below normal. Ayanagar recorded 24.2 degrees Celsius, 0.5 degrees below the normal level.
The IMD has forecast partly cloudy conditions in Delhi over the coming days, with daytime temperatures expected to remain around 34 degrees Celsius.
The weather office has predicted light rainfall from September 11, accompanied by generally cloudy skies across the city.
Delhi Air Quality Remains Moderate
Delhi’s air quality remained in the moderate category on Tuesday, with the city recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 109 at 10 am, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Under the CPCB’s classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’ and 401-500 ‘severe’.
The combination of moderate air quality and the expected rainfall will remain a key factor in Delhi’s weather conditions through the week.
