DM Shopian for better electricity supply during winter months

SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 18:- District Magistrate (DM) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishay today Chaired a meeting here at Mini Secretariat Arhama Shopian to review the power scenario keeping in view the ensuing winter.

DM called for making concerted efforts to reduce the Transmission and Distribution losses in the electricity sector and continuous innovations in work execution to improve the overall power scenario in the district. The meeting was attended by Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, PDD, and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, DM reviewed the present position of power supply and the pace of work on various ongoing PDD projects. He stressed on augmentation of power infrastructure and strengthening of the system, which he said is vital to realize the dream of around-the-clock uninterrupted power supply in the district.

Sachin asked the officers to follow the already notified electricity schedule and avoid unscheduled power cuts. He also directed to re-examine all feeders and adding more feeders into the system wherever it is necessary to minimize snapping of high-voltage power lines.

The Chair was briefed about the cumulative progress made under various CSS and overall power scenarios, winter constraints, and the steps taken by the corporation to improve the overall power scenario in the district.

While reviewing the power scenario, DM said that the District Administration is committed to provide quality power supply for fulfilling the energy needs of the people and added that the need of the hour is to put more effort for ensuring a visible change in the power profile of the district.

The meeting was informed that the augmentation of 132/33 KV Grid Station Kanipora from 50 MVA to 100 MVA will double the power supply from the existing 40 MWs to more than 80 MWs.

In addition, DM directed the concerned for installation of 05 No. Panels each at Turkawangam, Wachi, Sedow, Chakoora, Zainapora pertaining to Reshipora Landoora and Batapora Receiving Station respectively and approval for construction of 6.3 MVA Receiving Station at Trenz under PMDP was also discussed and stressed for its early completion.

To ensure speedy repair of electric transformers, DM called for increasing the capacity of the department’s workshops. He said steps are afoot to increase the human resource of the department to better cater to rising demands.

DM stressed on the officers to expedite work on all the projects so that their time-bound completion is ensured.  He said that the department needs to gear up to meet people’s expectations. He said that there is no shortage of funds and called for time-bound completion of the development projects.

Sachin asked the executing agency to ensure the timely completion of the projects through proper monitoring and supervision at the highest level.
