Srinagar, May 15: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Monday sought adequate compensation to hailstorm-hit farmers in Shopian and Kulgam districts.
In a statement, a DPAP spokesperson said that the untimely hailstorm which hit scores of villages in Shopian district has damaged orchards and paddy fields in Herpora area of Shopian and Aharbal zone of Kulgam district in South Kashmir.
“There has been no assessment of the damage to the orchards or the paddy fields in hailstorm-hit villages of Shopian and Kulgam districts as most of the victims are dependent on these crops which stand damaged,” said the DPAP spokesperson in the statement.
DPAP demands immediate relief to the farmers and orchard owners of Shopian and Kulgam districts, said the statement.
