Srinagar, 23 Apr: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Thursday said that the Baisaran terror attack remains a deep scar on the collective conscience of the region, with its human and economic consequences still resonating across Kashmir.
On the anniversary of the brutal terror attack, Dr. Farooq observed that the tragedy continues to weigh heavily on affected families, many of whom are yet to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. He said that beyond the massive human cost, the incident also dealt a severe blow to the region’s tourism sector, which remains a vital pillar of the local economy.
He said that the Omar Abdullah-led elected government is making sustained and concerted efforts to revive the tourism sector and restore confidence among visitors. While early signs of recovery are visible, Dr. Farooq said that rebuilding momentum will take time and requires continued support and stability.
Reaffirming his solidarity with the bereaved families, Dr. Farooq called for collective resolve to ensure peace, resilience, unity and sustained development in the region.
