New Delhi, May 30: India and Myanmar moved to strengthen their longstanding partnership on Saturday as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held extensive discussions with Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing during his official visit to India.
The meeting focused on expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including infrastructure connectivity, economic engagement, and people-to-people ties. Both sides reviewed ongoing initiatives and explored opportunities to further deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
President Hlaing arrived in India on a five-day visit, marking an important diplomatic engagement between the neighbouring countries. His itinerary began with a visit to the revered Mahabodhi Temple in Gaya before proceeding to New Delhi for high-level talks with Indian leaders.
The visit comes at a significant time as New Delhi continues to enhance its engagement with Southeast Asian nations under its Act East policy.
