Election Commission of India Expands Digital Voting Awareness Campaign

New outreach initiative aims to increase youth participation and improve transparency before upcoming state elections.

NEW DELHI, May 8, 2026: The Election Commission of India has launched a nationwide voter awareness campaign focused on digital literacy, election transparency and youth participation ahead of key state elections scheduled later this year.

The initiative includes online registration drives, campus outreach programmes and social media awareness campaigns designed to encourage first-time voters. Officials said the programme will also combat misinformation and promote ethical voting practices.

Election authorities are expanding mobile application services that allow citizens to verify polling booth details, voter identification records and candidate information digitally. Educational institutions and civil society groups have partnered with election officials to increase public engagement.

Political analysts believe young voters will play a decisive role in several upcoming elections, making voter education campaigns increasingly important in India’s evolving democratic landscape.
