MUMBAI, Aug 14: Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav is set to enter Bollywood with Malamaal Weekly 2, joining Riteish Deshmukh and Paresh Rawal in the upcoming sequel to the popular comedy franchise.
The project marks Yadav’s reported transition from digital entertainment to mainstream Hindi cinema. He will share the screen with established actors as the franchise returns with another comedy built around confusion, characters and chaotic circumstances.
The original Malamaal Weekly, released in 2006, was directed by Priyadarshan and became known for its ensemble cast and situational humour. The story revolved around villagers who discover that one of them has won a lottery, triggering a series of comic attempts to claim the money.
The sequel is expected to retain the humorous spirit associated with the original while bringing a new combination of actors to the franchise.
Yadav has built a substantial following through reality television and social media, and his casting gives the project a performer with an established digital fan base.
His inclusion alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Paresh Rawal also brings together younger digital-generation appeal and experienced Bollywood performers.
With the sequel now attracting attention ahead of its release, Yadav’s first major Hindi-film role will be closely watched by both his online followers and Bollywood audiences.
