Kanpur, 27 November : Former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Bajpayee had a strong attachment to Kanpur. During his education here, he often used to sit on the ghats of Ganga and he wished that Ganga Mahaarti like Haridwar and Kashi can be done here so that even small Kashi i.e. Kanpur can be counted in spiritual cities. His dream was fulfilled by the administration on Friday. Today, Maharati took place at Atal Ghat of Ganga Barrage as a trial and it will become regular after the Mahaarti by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the coming days.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to Kanpur on 14 December last year and held a meeting of the National Ganga Council with the Chief Ministers and representatives of the five states in which the forthcoming plans were prepared for the avidity and cleanliness of the Ganges. After this, the Prime Minister also did sailing in the Ganges at Atal Ghat and during this time he was told that ‘Atal Ghat’ has been built in the memory of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee. He was also told that Atal Ji’s dream was to be a daily Ganga Mahaarti here like Haridwar and Kashi so that Kanpur can be identified in spiritual cities and the tourism sector can also grow here.
Ganga water came from Haridwar
Ayush Pandit brought Ganga water from Haridwar at the behest of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to start Ganga Maha Aarti in Kanpur. It is pleasing to all to perform the Aarti of Ganga Maiya and see it. Everyone tries to get involved. The Ganga Aarti in Haridwar and Kashi has been nothing short of a dream for the residents. Now due to Ganga Maha Aarti in Kanpur, people will have increased faith in Ganga. The Mandalayukta said that with a view to woo tourists at the ghat and to make people aware of the glory of Ganga, a program of Ganga Aarti will be organized here in the coming days.
Ganges river is the lifeline of Kanpur
The Ganges River is the lifeline of Kanpur and history, culture, tradition, and industry depend to a great extent on Ganga ji. The administration has started the Ganga Aarti at Atal Ghat with the aim of making people aware about the Ganges clean and abundant. Ganga barrage is to be developed as tourism. Along with this, a planned development plan is being prepared around it. The Ganga Barrage Development Committee has been formed for planned development. For this, officers of departments like Municipal Corporation, Irrigation Department, PWD, etc. have been engaged. Now there will be no unplanned plotting nor will houses be built without a map. Along with this, the road to the barrage will also be widened.

Ganga theme park is to be established on 40 acres behind Atal Ghat. The process of nominating a consultant for this is underway. In this, the historical religious of Kanpur and the history of Ganga will be told. Light and sound will also be available. Kanpur’s contribution to the revolution of 1857 will also be shown. People will also be able to know the names of those martyrs who sacrificed their lives to liberate the country.(H.C.).
