Jammu, Mar 18: The General Officer Commanding of the Rising Star Corps, Rajan Sharawat, on Wednesday reviewed the operational readiness of troops deployed in the Machhedi sector of Kathua district.
The inspection focused on the strategically significant Bani-Machhedi belt, a mountainous region that has witnessed multiple encounters and militant activities in recent years. The area is considered a key infiltration route linking the International Border to districts such as Doda, Kishtwar and Udhampur.
During the visit, the Corps Commander evaluated the preparedness levels of troops operating in challenging terrain and harsh conditions. He commended personnel for maintaining high morale, combat readiness and dedication to their duties.
The Army has strengthened its presence in the high-altitude belt over the past year by deploying additional units to counter infiltration attempts and enhance security in the region.
