Jammu, April 14- JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has criticized the UT admn for harassing the daily wagers and need-based workers by making it mandatory to mark bio matric attendance twice daily, whereas they were neither regularised nor their wages enhanced & are not paid regularly, too, the meager wages
In a statement, JKPCC Chief Spokesperson said that the government failed to regularise them and revise their wages despite the high inflation of prices of all commodities but on the other hand harassed these field functionaries, by putting so many harsh service conditions on them, whose survival is difficult on a meagre₹ 9000/-pm, which too is not paid them regularly.
The daily wagers and need-based workers are supposed to work in respective beats allotted to them in the field but are being forced to mark bio matric attendance twice daily and have to visit twice to the offices to mark attendance. In order to make two ends meet and for the survival and education of their children, they have to undertake part-time works after discharging their duties but now find it difficult to work.
What is most unfortunate is that the Jal Shakti Department got land from owners for creating a source of water and establishing other assets, on the promise of giving them jobs, as per govt policy prior to April 2015. Hundreds of youth donated their land to the department by registered deeds in the court of Sub Registrar, prior to,2015 & the department is utilizing their land. Suddenly the government imposed the ban in April 2015 & the department neither engaged these candidates nor paid any compensation to such persons, which is totally arbitrary, illegal, and inhumane.
The government should do justice to these poor people by engaging them as land donors as per policy prevalent at that time of getting land besides framing a regularisation policy for all those who have rendered services of more than 10-15/20 years.
The government should shun its unsympathetic, inhumane approach & stop harassing them.
