NEW DELHI, Sep 2: India will host the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027 after the International Cricket Council (ICC) shifted the tournament from Sri Lanka.
The competition will feature six teams Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka according to details reported on Wednesday.
The tournament will mark a new addition to the women’s international cricket calendar, providing another major platform for the top sides in the limited-overs format.
India’s selection as host is expected to give the home team the advantage of familiar conditions while also bringing another global women’s cricket event to the country.
The change in venue comes as the ICC continues to expand the women’s game through dedicated global competitions and increased opportunities for leading international teams.
The tournament is expected to attract significant attention from Indian cricket supporters, particularly with the country’s women’s team among the six participating sides.
