NEW DELHI, Sept 7: Indian space technology startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in its latest funding round, marking the largest funding round so far for an Indian space tech company and strengthening its plans to expand satellite based Earth intelligence capabilities.
The Series C round was led by Singapore state investor Temasek and UK based Seraphim Space Investment Trust. Existing investors Radical Ventures and growX Ventures also participated, along with new investors including 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment.
Founded by Awais Ahmed, Pixxel initially focused on hyperspectral satellite imaging, a technology capable of capturing detailed information about the Earth’s surface beyond what conventional imaging systems can provide.
The company has since expanded into a broader Earth intelligence business through its Aurora platform, which is designed to turn satellite data into actionable insights for commercial and government users.
Pixxel said the fresh capital will support the expansion of its Honeybee satellite constellation and the development of high-resolution imaging satellites. The company also plans to further develop Aurora and integrate data from its growing network of space-based sensors.
The latest investment takes Pixxel’s total funding to $195 million, highlighting growing international investor interest in India’s emerging private space sector.
The company aims to build an integrated space infrastructure combining satellites, sensors and software to provide detailed intelligence for applications across industries and government missions.
The funding comes as India’s private space sector continues to attract global capital following the country’s efforts to encourage commercial participation in space activities. Pixxel’s expansion could further strengthen India’s position in the rapidly developing market for satellite imagery and space-based intelligence.
