06-12-2023 : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief, Vikar Rasool Wani, underscored the significance of democratic rights, emphasizing that depriving people of these rights amounts to a form of punishment. In a meeting held at the Srinagar Party office, Wani urged the party cadre to initiate an extensive public outreach program in their respective districts, focusing on highlighting public issues for prompt resolution.
The gathering, comprising party office bearers and District Congress Committee presidents, addressed a spectrum of issues confronting the public. Central to the discussions was the current political situation and the perceived repercussions of curtailing democratic rights in Jammu and Kashmir. Wani condemned this action, characterizing it as a punitive measure that disempowers the people.
During the meeting, Wani reiterated that the Congress Party has always prioritized the concerns of the people, emphasizing its legacy of service and sacrifice. He called upon the party cadre to intensify their efforts to address public grievances, particularly those arising from the government’s perceived wrong policies and lackadaisical attitude.
Wani expressed concern over the BJP government at the Centre allegedly punishing the people by denying them their democratic rights. He noted that this deprivation results in citizens feeling unheard and disconnected from the administration, given the absence of a democratic process that allows them to elect representatives. The PCC chief emphasized that Congress is committed to highlighting and addressing the sufferings of the people, safeguarding their rights that have come under assault since the BJP assumed power.
Reviewing organizational affairs and activities across all districts of Kashmir, Wani stressed the need to strengthen the party at the grassroots and bring attention to public issues for resolution. He lamented the contrasting approach of the BJP government, accusing it of neglecting the needs of the people and implementing policies that undermine the unity and service-oriented ethos of the Congress.
Senior Vice President of PCC, GN Monga, echoed the sentiment, stating that the Congress Party holds the key to addressing the high expectations of the people. He called for dedicated efforts to seek redressal of grievances and emphasized the importance of working collectively towards this goal.
The meeting featured addresses from several prominent figures, including Mohd Anwar Bhat, Surinder Singh Channi, Abdul Gani Khan, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khanday, Gulsher Khan, Shameema Raina, Shameema Iqbal, Mir Iqbal, and Fayaz Ahmad Mir, all underscoring the shared commitment to serving the people and upholding their rights.
