Kaspersky Eyes Bigger India Bets, Considers Regional Hub Status

Cybersecurity firm plans to expand workforce, cloud operations and regional services footprint from India

New Delhi: Kaspersky is preparing to significantly scale up its presence in India, buoyed by strong growth and a strategy to position the country as a regional hub for key operations.

A senior executive from the company indicated that India could soon host expanded functions including marketing, business development and cloud-based services aimed at serving not just domestic clients but also customers across the Asia-Pacific region.

The move follows robust financial performance, with the firm recording strong growth momentum and expecting further improvement in upcoming results. The company is also evaluating the possibility of establishing a data centre in India, a step that could substantially increase hiring and deepen its regional capabilities.

Highlighting the evolving threat landscape, the company warned that cyber risks are expected to intensify, driven in part by the growing misuse of artificial intelligence tools. The rise of sophisticated threats such as deepfakes has made it essential for organisations to deploy advanced, AI-powered defence mechanisms.

The firm also flagged concerns around interconnected digital ecosystems, noting that increasing integration across sectors like banking, healthcare and supply chains could amplify vulnerabilities and lead to cascading cyber incidents.

At the same time, it pointed to a growing demand for cost-efficient security solutions in India, particularly “security operations centre as a service” models, which allow enterprises to access advanced protection without heavy infrastructure investments.

On the workforce front, the company acknowledged that automation and AI are likely to reshape job roles, especially those involving routine tasks, while emphasising the need for continuous upskilling to stay relevant in a rapidly changing digital environment.
