MUMBAI, Aug 25: The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved a proposal to grant private university status to two medical colleges, a move aimed at providing the institutions with greater autonomy in academic and administrative matters.
The institutions covered by the decision are NKP Salve Medical College in Nagpur and Dr Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Medical College in Ahilyanagar.
The approval could allow the institutions to operate with greater control over their academic programmes and institutional administration, subject to the applicable regulatory framework.
