EVMs untrustworthy, revert to ballot box system, demands Babu Rampaul

Jammu: 09-03-23: Former Minister and Zonal President Central Zone JK National Conference (JKNC), Babu Rampaul dubbing the process of using EVM machines as untrustworthy for holding elections, batted for switching back to the use of ballot boxes for the ensuing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure fair and transparent elections and restore the eroding confidence of the voters in the EVM machines having lost the credibility of the masses.

Babu Rampaul said this while addressing the Public meeting here today. He was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Bharat Bushan Zonal Secretary and Amreesh Sharma Zonal Vice-President JKNC were guests of honour. The meeting was organized by Dr Vikas Sharma, Coordinator Jammu District Urban and Zonal Secretary JKNC at Jakh which was attended by a large number of People.

Babu Rampaul said that credibility of EVMs was under scanner and there are doubts regarding its use and keeping in view the same, the Election Commission should use the traditional ballot box system.  He also said that the Centre downgraded the status of J&K from State to Union Territory and also abrogated its special status owing to which all state subjects holders were exposed to tremendous amounts of hardships.

“The people of J&K were promised that they will get jobs, development, peace, prosperity and many other things after the abrogation of J&K’s special status, but nothing happened on the ground and people are running from pillars to post to get their things done”, Rampaul lamented.  “The business community, small traders and commoners are all suffering due to policy paralysis and deep rooted corruption at all levels.

He reiterated the party’s demand for restoration of full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir before the announcement of assembly elections. “J&K has suffered a lot since the abrogation of state status as in the absence of popular govt people are feeling suffocated due to their continuous neglect on all fronts,” he added.

Babu Rampaul emphasized on the need to highlight the failures of current dispensation as people were facing severe hardships due to misgovernance.

Zonal Secretary JKNC, Dr Vikas Sharma while speaking on the occasion said that it was under NC’s rule that the erstwhile state was among top states of our country. He said that from unemployment to literacy Jammu and Kashmir was and is in a far better position than other states of India. He lambasted those dividing people in the name of religion and region. He said that the time has come to defeat such forces and strengthen the hands of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Jenab Omar Abdullah for lasting peace in the Union Territory.

Bharat Bhushan also addressed the youth and lashed out at Centre for playing with the future of youth by imposing ill-conceived policies on them. “Youth is under depression due to large scale corruption in the recruitment processes and have no avenues for jobs.
