JAMMU JUNE 11: Rich tributes were paid to Mirza Mohd Afzal Beigh and Kh. Ghulam Mohi –ud-Din Shah on their 41st and 19th Death Anniversaries respectively during a function held at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, Provincial President Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta said that late Mirza Mohd Afzal Beigh and Kh. Mohi-Ud- Din Shah would be remembered for a long time to come for the historical role they played during their lifetime by serving the state in various capacities. He said Mr. Beigh was the Architect of the land reform act and the abolition of big landed Estate Act. He was also a close associate of the late Sher –I- Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and remained with him for a long time in Jail also. He was instrumental of 1975 accord between late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi and Sher –I- Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah referring to late Mohi –ud-Din Shah.
The Provincial President said these two leaders served the state and that they were part of the movement launched under the leadership of late Sher –I- Kashmir in J&K State in the early forties. True tributes would be to follow their path and complete the work which they could not complete during their lifetime.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary, Babu Rampaul former minister and Central Zone President, Abdul Gani Malik former minister and Zone President Udhampur Reasi, Pardeep Bali, Provincial Secretary, Abdul Gani Teli Provincial President OBC Cell and Vijay Lochan Provincial President SC Cell also paid tributes to late Mirza Mohd Afzal Beigh and Kh. Mohi-Ud-Din Shah who shaped in their lifetime the destiny of the National Conference as a strong mass movement that strived for the dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion.
Among those who were present on the occasion include Bimla Luthra Ex MLA, Ashok Dogra, Waris Gill, Reyaz Ahmed Hakla, Reeta Gupta, Dr. Vikas Sharma, Baldev Raj Retd Master, S. Aya Singh, Jagga Ram, and others.
