NC to oppose opening of 22 new liquor vends in Jammu: Babu Rampaul

'People reeling under high rate of inflation'

Jammu, 03-04-23: A meeting was held today by the Central Zone, JKNC at Rehari in which Zonal President and Former Minister Babu Ram Paul, was the Chief Guest. The meeting was organized by Dr Vikas Sharma, Coordinator Jammu District (Urban) and Zonal Secretary Central Zone JKNC.

While speaking on the occasion, Former Minister and Zonal President, JKNC Central Zone, Babu Rampaul came down heavily on the BJP govt for making the lives of people miserable by burdening them with various taxes and adding 26 new liquor vends in J&K.

Babu Rampaul said the present dispensation in J&K as well as in Centre have been continuously pushing the poor to the walls through its anti-people policies as masses are reeling under very high rate of inflation and clamoring for some relief and respite from the skyrocketing prices of essential communities.

“NHAI has once again increased the rate of toll tax without any rationale and minting huge amounts of money from the pockets of citizens, ” he pointed out, adding that people are working very hard to earn their livelihood but the government is snatching their earnings putting them into a state of helplessness. He further said that every year the toll tax is enhanced by the Govt on its own sweet will without citing any solid reason or justification because this has become the set pattern of  Govt to break the backbone of masses.

Criticizing the Govt, Ram Paul said that the LG administration earlier imposed Property Tax on people of J&K and did a sustained campaign claiming it to be a marginal one urging people to happily pay the same. He said that the people are apprehending a periodical increase in the rate of Property tax year after year just like the government is doing with Toll Tax, he added.

Former Minister urged the government to roll back its decisions on imposition of Property Tax, Enhancement of Toll Tax and Opening of 26 new liquor vends, as all these decisions are against the will of people living in Jammu and Kashmir.

Zonal Secretary, Dr Vikas Sharma also addressed the meeting. He castigated the LG administration for adding 22 new liquor vends in the City of Temples, although Lt. Governor takes high moral ground on several occasions to project himself as a well wisher of J&K people, he added.
