Tiruchirappalli (Tamil Nadu), Mar 12: Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday dismissed speculation about AIADMK TVK alliance talks, stating that no discussions have taken place with actor politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
Responding to questions from reporters in Tiruchirappalli, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader said the reports about a possible electoral alliance were purely speculative. According to him, the party had not held any talks with TVK regarding a poll tie up.
Palaniswami also clarified that negotiations on seat sharing within the National Democratic Alliance have not begun yet. He said details of discussions with allies would be made public once the process formally starts.
The AIADMK chief made the remarks after meeting Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and L Murugan following an NDA rally addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasised that the meeting did not involve seat-sharing or alliance negotiations.
Commenting on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s statement that the upcoming Assembly election would be a contest between Delhi and Tamil Nadu, Palaniswami said such remarks reflected a lack of confidence. He claimed the ruling party was attempting to avoid directly confronting the AIADMK in the political contest.
Expressing optimism about the next Assembly polls, Palaniswami said the AIADMK led alliance is confident of securing a strong mandate and returning to power in the state.
