New Delhi, Aug 04 : Opposition members of the INDIA bloc staged a demonstration inside the Parliament House complex on Tuesday, targeting the Centre over alleged irregularities involving donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the police action against students who participated in recent protests.
Several MPs gathered near Makar Dwar carrying placards and raising slogans demanding accountability from the government. The protest also featured symbolic donation boxes, which opposition leaders used to highlight their allegations regarding the reported theft of offerings made at the Ayodhya temple.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined the demonstration along with Samajwadi Party MPs Dimple Yadav and Dharmendra Yadav, Trinamool Congress MP Sagarika Ghose, Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders Manoj Jha and Sanjay Yadav, and Revolutionary Socialist Party MP N.K. Premachandran, among others.
The protesting MPs stood behind a large banner questioning the absence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the debate and repeatedly called on the government to respond to the allegations. Opposition leaders maintained that the issues required an immediate explanation in Parliament and greater transparency from the authorities.
Before the protest, floor leaders of the INDIA bloc met in the chamber of Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge to finalise their strategy for the day’s proceedings. The alliance decided to jointly raise concerns over the alleged misappropriation of temple donations and what it described as excessive police action against students during demonstrations held last week.
The coordinated protest is part of the opposition’s broader effort to press the government for answers on both issues during the ongoing Monsoon Session. The developments are expected to keep the matters at the centre of parliamentary debate in the coming days as the INDIA bloc continues to demand accountability from the Centre.
