Oscars Set Dates for 99th & Historic 100th Ceremony Ahead of YouTube Transition

Historic shift as Oscars prepare to leave ABC and Dolby Theatre

LOS ANGELES — The Academy Awards governing body has officially confirmed the dates for its upcoming ceremonies, including the landmark 100th edition, marking the end of an era in its broadcast history.

The 99th Oscars are scheduled for March 14, 2027, followed by the historic 100th ceremony on March 5, 2028. Both events will air on ABC, concluding the awards show’s long-standing partnership with the network before transitioning to YouTube in 2029.

These ceremonies will also be the final ones hosted at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The Academy has already announced a move to the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles under a new long-term agreement, signaling a major venue shift for future editions.

Despite these changes, the ceremony timing will remain unchanged, continuing its traditional broadcast at 7 p.m. Eastern / 4 p.m. Pacific.

Meanwhile, the most recent 98th Oscars saw a drop in viewership, with ratings falling by 9% after a period of steady growth. Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the ceremony honored One Battle After Another as Best Picture, with Michael B. Jordan winning Best Actor for Sinners and Jessie Buckley taking home Best Actress for Hamnet.
