DEIR AL-BALAH (Gaza Strip), Oct 29: At least 60 people, including several children, were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes across Gaza overnight, local hospital officials said on Wednesday.
The escalation followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s directive to carry out “powerful strikes” in response to what Israel described as Hamas’ violation of a fragile ceasefire.
According to officials at the Al-Aqsa Hospital in the central city of Deir al-Balah, at least 10 bodies including three women and six children were brought in overnight following two Israeli airstrikes in the area.
In southern Gaza, the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis reported receiving 20 bodies, among them 13 children and two women, after five Israeli airstrikes hit residential neighborhoods.
Elsewhere in central Gaza, Al-Awda Hospital said it received 30 bodies, including 14 children, from areas struck during the night.
The latest attacks mark one of the deadliest nights in recent weeks, deepening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as fears grow over renewed large-scale hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
