PM Modi Hails Indian Youth for Breaking New Records in Startup Ecosystem

Prime Minister credits young entrepreneurs with driving India’s global startup success and powering the nation’s development aspirations.

New Delhi, Jan 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings to India’s startup community on National Startup Day, commemorating a decade since the launch of the Startup India initiative.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister celebrated the “courage, spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial zeal” of Indian youth, whom he credited with driving India’s emergence as a global startup hub.

“With their firm resolve and dedication, our young friends are continuously setting new records in the world of startups. Their zeal and passion will become the greatest force in realizing the dream of a developed India,” Modi said.

He also shared a Sanskrit verse highlighting the power of perseverance, noting that even the most difficult challenges can be overcome through consistent effort, much like how constant drops of water can wear down rock over time.

Over the past ten years, India has grown into one of the world’s largest startup ecosystems, hosting over 2 lakh startups as of December 2025. Key hubs including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and the Delhi-NCR region have led this transformation, attracting both domestic and global investment and fostering innovation across sectors such as fintech, health tech, clean energy, and artificial intelligence.

Launched in 2016, the StartUp India programme has worked to reduce regulatory hurdles, improve access to capital, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs, with a strong focus on youth-led innovation.
