02-09-2022 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commission the first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi today. Designed by the Indian Navy’s in-house Warship Design Bureau and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, INS Vikrant has been built with with the state of the art automation features and is the largest ship ever built in the maritime history of India. With the commissioning of Vikrant, India will have two operational Aircraft Carriers, which will bolster the maritime security of the nation. During the event, Mr. Modi will also unveil the new Naval Ensign (Nishaan), doing away with the colonial past and befitting the rich Indian maritime heritage. In a tweet, Prime Minister said that the 2nd of September is a landmark day for India’s efforts to become Aatmanirbhar in the Defence sector.
Thereafter around 1:30 PM, Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around 3,800 crore rupees in Mangaluru, Karnataka. Mr. Modi said, he is looking forward to being among the people of Mangaluru.
Earlier yesterday evening, Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation various projects of Kochi Metro and Indian Railways worth over 4,500 crore rupees. Mr Modi inaugurated the Phase I extension of the Kochi Metro Rail Project from Petta to SN junction. Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of three Railway stations in Kerala – Ernakulam Junction, Ernakulam Town and Kollam. These railway stations will be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and world-class facilities. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, the top priority of his government is to ensure basic facilities for every citizen and to build modern infrastructure. The Prime Minister listed various measures taken by the Union Government for the people of Kerala. He said, people need to work on the resolve to make India a developed nation during ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Kal’.
Mr Modi observed that by adopting the Mantra of Sab ka Sath, Sab ka Vikas, Sab ka Vishwas, and Sab ka Prayas, the Government is converting resolutions into accomplishments.
Mr Modi said, two lakh pucca houses have been approved for the poor of Kerala under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana, of which over one lakh 30 thousand houses have been completed.
Prime Minister said, metro systems in the country have contributed towards creating a better environment, reducing carbon footprint, and decongesting roads.
Dedicating projects to the Indian railways, Mr. Modi said, important railway stations are being developed with amenities matching airports. He said, the rail connectivity in Kerala has reached a new milestone with the doubling of the entire route from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangalore. With this, a long-standing demand of the Ayyappa devotees has been fulfilled.
Earlier the Prime Minister worshipped at the Aadi Shankara Janmabhoomi Kshethram at Kalady, the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya.
