19-02-2023 : Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader and former president of the All India Congress Committee, held a meeting with senior party leaders from Kashmir in Gulmarg today. During the meeting, Gandhi expressed his concern over the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the denial of democratic rights to its people.
Gandhi criticized the government for depriving people of their rights and failing to address their needs. He pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two union territories against the wishes of the people and that both regions were being denied their democratic rights by the BJP, which is attempting to distract people from its failed policies and growing problems.
Gandhi assured the party leaders that the Congress would continue to fight for the democratic rights of the people and ensure that justice is served. He described the eviction drive in J&K as a deliberate move by the BJP to divert attention from the real issues, such as rising unemployment, soaring prices, and other developmental issues.
Gandhi expressed confidence that people, particularly the youth, are joining the Congress party due to its pro-people policies. He urged party leaders to keep their doors open for those wishing to join Congress and encourage them to work for the wellbeing of the people.
Gandhi promised to continue visiting J&K to understand the pain and anguish of the people and to ensure justice for them. He added that he would spare no effort in this regard, given the enormous hardships suffered by the people due to the BJP’s wrong policies towards J&K.
During the meeting, AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi urged party leaders to work hard to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and resolve people’s issues. AICC Incharge Rajni Patil and JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani also briefed Rahul Gandhi about the organizational affairs, their activities in J&K, and the current political situation.
