Rahul Gandhi Slams Paper Leak Cases in Uttarakhand, Says Students’ Future Cannot Be “Auctioned Off”

Congress leader says repeated recruitment exam leaks are destroying students’ trust and demands accountability for those responsible

New Delhi, July 16: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday launched a sharp attack over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations in Uttarakhand, claiming that the state has emerged as a major centre of paper leak cases.

His remarks came a day before his scheduled interaction with students in Dehradun on July 17, where he is expected to address concerns related to recruitment exams and the challenges faced by young aspirants.

Gandhi alleged that the recruitment system in Uttarakhand has been severely affected by corruption, particularly in examinations conducted by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC). He claimed that posts meant for deserving candidates were being influenced by illegal practices rather than merit-based selection.

According to Gandhi, thousands of students spend years preparing for government examinations, investing their time, money and hopes in securing employment. However, repeated allegations of question paper leaks have created uncertainty among aspirants and weakened confidence in the recruitment process.

Congress Leader Questions Effectiveness of Anti-Cheating Measures

The Congress leader also questioned the effectiveness of the anti-cheating law introduced by the state government, stating that strict rules alone are insufficient if they fail to prevent malpractice.

He claimed that despite legal measures, incidents involving leaked examination papers continued to create difficulties for candidates who rely on transparent and fair recruitment procedures.

Gandhi said that a competitive examination is not merely a test but a pathway to a stable career for many young people. Any manipulation of the process, he added, affects not only individual candidates but also their families who depend on these opportunities.

He described paper leaks as a serious violation of students’ rights, arguing that such incidents take away employment opportunities from deserving candidates who have worked hard to achieve their goals.

Rahul Gandhi Invites Students to Raise Their Concerns in Dehradun

Gandhi appealed to students and job aspirants across Uttarakhand to participate in the upcoming interaction and share their experiences regarding recruitment challenges.

He said the issue should be treated as a collective concern involving the future of thousands of young people preparing for government jobs.

The Congress leader announced that his Dehradun visit would focus on hearing the voices of students and highlighting their demands. He urged young aspirants to come forward and make their concerns heard through a united platform.

Recruitment Exam Transparency Becomes Major Political Issue

The controversy surrounding examination irregularities has become a significant political issue in Uttarakhand, with opposition parties repeatedly raising questions over recruitment transparency.

Student groups and job aspirants have previously expressed concerns about delays, cancellations and allegations of unfair practices in various government recruitment examinations.

The debate has intensified around the need for stronger monitoring systems, stricter action against those involved in malpractice and ensuring that selection processes remain based on merit.

As Rahul Gandhi prepares to meet students in Dehradun, the issue of examination integrity is expected to remain a key topic of discussion between political leaders, youth organisations and aspiring candidates.

The Congress leader reiterated that protecting the interests of students and ensuring fair opportunities for employment would remain a priority in his campaign against alleged recruitment irregularities.
