Rahul Gandhi Slams Paper Leak Cases, Says Uttarakhand Has Become an ‘Epicentre’ of Youth Betrayal

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleges recruitment exams have been compromised, says the aspirations and careers of young candidates cannot be sacrificed to corruption

Dehradun: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday launched a sharp attack over alleged irregularities in government recruitment examinations in Uttarakhand, claiming that the state has emerged as an “epicentre” of paper leak cases.

Gandhi’s remarks came a day before his scheduled interaction with students in Dehradun on July 17, where he plans to address concerns related to competitive examinations and employment opportunities for young people.

Taking to social media, Gandhi alleged that a deep-rooted system of corruption has affected recruitment processes in the state, particularly in examinations conducted by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC).

He claimed that posts such as Patwari and Lekhpal, which should be awarded on the basis of merit and hard work, have allegedly become vulnerable to manipulation due to criminal networks involved in paper leak activities.

‘Students Work for Years, But Their Opportunities Are Taken Away’

Rahul Gandhi said thousands of young aspirants spend years preparing for competitive examinations, investing time, money and effort in the hope of securing government jobs.

He argued that when examination papers are leaked, it does not merely represent an administrative failure but directly affects the rights and future prospects of students.

“A student studies for years, fills examination forms, pays fees and travels long distances to appear for tests. But when papers are leaked, the opportunity meant for that candidate is taken away,” Gandhi said.

Calling paper leaks a serious injustice, the Congress leader said such incidents damage the confidence of young people who depend on transparent recruitment systems for employment.

According to Gandhi, the issue is not limited to examination papers being compromised but involves the loss of trust among millions of aspiring candidates.

Anti-Cheating Law Failed to Prevent Leaks, Claims Gandhi

The Congress leader also questioned the effectiveness of Uttarakhand’s anti-cheating legislation, stating that despite the introduction of legal measures, cases of examination irregularities have continued.

He alleged that while strict provisions were announced to prevent cheating and malpractice, the ground reality remained unchanged for many students preparing for government jobs.

Gandhi said laws must be implemented effectively to ensure that honest candidates are not disadvantaged because of organised fraud.

He demanded accountability from authorities and emphasised the need for a transparent recruitment process where selection is based only on qualification, performance and merit.

‘Students’ Voice Must Become a Strong Movement’

Ahead of his Dehradun visit, Gandhi appealed to students and job aspirants across Uttarakhand to participate in raising their concerns.

He said the upcoming interaction would focus on listening to the experiences of young people and highlighting their struggles related to examinations and employment.

Calling it a fight for the rights of students, Gandhi said he would continue to stand with aspirants demanding fairness and accountability.

He urged young people to unite and make their concerns heard through a collective movement.

Political Debate Intensifies Over Recruitment Exam Irregularities

The allegations have added to the ongoing political debate in Uttarakhand over recruitment examination controversies.

Opposition parties have repeatedly raised concerns over alleged irregularities in government job examinations, demanding stronger action against those responsible.

The issue has become a major concern among students and unemployed youth, who argue that repeated disruptions in recruitment processes create uncertainty about their careers.

Gandhi’s comments are expected to intensify political discussions ahead of his student interaction programme in Dehradun.

Rahul Gandhi’s Message to Aspirants

Reaffirming his support for students, Gandhi said the dreams of young people should not be affected by corruption or unfair practices.

He maintained that every aspirant deserves an equal opportunity to compete in a transparent system.

The Congress leader said his campaign would focus on ensuring that recruitment examinations remain fair and that the future of young candidates is protected.

As he prepares to meet students in Dehradun, Gandhi’s remarks have brought the issue of paper leaks and employment challenges back into political focus in Uttarakhand.
