Republic Day Restrictions Disrupt Delhi Flights After NOTAM Issued

Two flights to from Srinagar cancelled after NOTAM issued security heightened across national capital ahead of Republic Day

New Delhi/Srinagar, Jan 20: Two flights to and from Srinagar Airport were cancelled on Tuesday following the issuance of a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) at Delhi Airport, officials said. The cancellations were implemented by airlines due to airspace and operational restrictions linked to Republic Day 2026 preparations.

Airport authorities urged passengers to check the latest flight status with their respective airlines before travelling and advised them to remain in touch regarding rescheduling or refund options. Operations are expected to return to normal once the Republic Day restrictions are lifted.

Heightened Security Across Delhi

Ahead of January 26 celebrations, security agencies and Delhi Police have intensified measures across the city. High security alerts have been issued at railway stations, bus terminals, and crowded marketplaces. Posters of most wanted terrorists from groups including Khalistan linked organisations, Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, and ISIS have been prominently displayed.

Key names on the posters include Arshdeep Singh (Arsh Dala) of the Khalistan Tiger Force, Ranjeet Singh Neeta of the Khalistan Zindabad Force, and Mohammed Abu Sufyan, associated with Al-Qaeda. Citizens are urged to report any suspicious activity.

Security has been strengthened at major transport hubs such as New Delhi, Nizamuddin, and Anand Vihar railway stations, and ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Anand Vihar bus terminals. Public announcements and continuous safety messages are being broadcast to ensure vigilance.

Over 5,800 additional personnel from Central Armed Police Forces  including BSF, CRPF, and CISF  have been deployed. The Kartavya Path area, the venue for Republic Day celebrations, is under 24/7 CCTV surveillance with Facial Recognition Systems, supported by anti drone units and sniper teams stationed on high rise buildings to counter aerial threats.

Officials emphasized that these measures aim to ensure smooth and secure Republic Day celebrations while minimising disruption to regular activities.
