Road Race organized at Bandipora in collaboration with the local unit of the Indian Army

BANDIPORA, JULY 03:  The Zonal Physical Education Department in collaboration with the local unit of the Indian Army Thursday organized a road race at Bandipora.

The race was flagged off by the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Gh Qadir Bhat. The race started from Takiya Ahmad Shah and culminated at PlayGround near Gund-i-Qisar Bridge. Zonal Physical Education Officer Ms Sofoora was also present on the occasion.

Students from different educational institutions of block Bandipora participated in the race. As many as 200 Under-14 and Under-17 age group students including boys and girls participated in the event which started early in the morning.  Teaching staff, PETs, Rehbar-e-Khel, and volunteers also participated in the event.

Among the U-17 group, Aamir Ahmad Malik and Mehnaza Bano bagged the first position while Mohammad Ramzan Malla and Taiba Rehman bagged the first position for the U-14 group.

Speaking on the occasion, DYSSO congratulated the students for taking part in the race and urged Zonal Heads to continue sports activities while taking all the precautions amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

He stressed on the students to take an active part in sports activities to remain physically and mentally fit. He also assured full support to the students from the department in developing the sports infrastructure.

Major R Jamwal was among the others who participated in the event. On the occasion, participants were honoured with mementos and medals.
