Samba remains abuzz with multifarious activities on concluding day

SAMBA, DECEMBER 6: District Samba today on the second day of My Town My Pride programme remained abuzz with multifarious activities in four Municipalities.

All four ULBs covered under My Town My Pride aims to deliver public services at doorsteps, build developmental initiatives on the feedback, cooperation and participation from people and strengthen strong and vibrant local self-governance.

On the conclusion day, students of different schools presented skits and cultural items highlighting the issues including Nasha Mukht abhiyan, garbage disposal and pollution of water bodies.

Deputy Commissioner Samba Anuradha Gupta said: “My Town My Pride programme aims to strengthen the democracy at grass roots level where the people become part of the decision making process and decide about utilization of funds meant for development of their wards. Under Jan Abhiyan, not only Urban Development but around 20-25 departments working in Urban Development areas are providing information about their work to the people and getting feedback from the people,” she said.

Moreover, a special interaction programme for senior citizens and youths of respective MC during MTMP 2.0 programme under the banner “SNEH SETU” was also carried out to protect and pass on the cultural and social values to next generation.

President MCs and ward members of Municipal Committee of Samba also participated enthusiastically in the public outreach programme under My Town My Pride and presented aspirations as well as development needs of the urban areas.

During the programme, Visiting Officers distributed education kits, baby kits, wheelchairs, hearing aids and among differently abled persons and children.

The visiting officers also distributed domicile certificates among the beneficiaries, besides giving away certificates, Grah Pravesh keys and financial assistance letters to the beneficiaries under different schemes.

Special camps of CSC Centres were also put up for providing awareness and public services through dedicated online portals of various departments.
