New Delhi, Jul 31: Fresh speculation over the political future of BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla intensified on Friday after he updated his profile on X, removing any direct reference to the Bharatiya Janata Party from his bio.
The revised profile now describes him as a follower of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while highlighting his interests in religion, culture and ideology, along with mentioning his book GST Ki Yatra. Notably, the updated biography no longer identifies him as a BJP spokesperson or party leader.
Poonawalla also shared a screenshot of the revised profile on his X account, further drawing attention to the change and triggering widespread discussion across social media over whether it signals a shift in his political journey.
The development comes just days after the BJP leader suggested that the time had come for him to move on from active politics. In recent interviews, he spoke about reassessing his role in public life, remarks that had already sparked speculation regarding his future within the party.
On Friday, Poonawalla reposted clips from those interviews, once again bringing his earlier comments into focus and adding to the uncertainty surrounding his next move.
Despite the growing buzz, there has been no official statement from either Poonawalla or the BJP confirming any resignation or change in his position. Repeated attempts by media organisations to reach him for clarification were unsuccessful.
Until an official announcement is made, the change to his social media profile has remained the primary reason behind the speculation, with political observers closely watching for any further developments.
