Jammu:- Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Jammu-Kashmir unit has strongly condemned the imposition of additional tax burden on the public in this era of inflation, unemployment and recession on the first day of entry in the new financial year.
State chief Manish Sahni said in a press conference held at the party centre office Jammu today , said that the Jammu and Kashmir LG administration has implemented property tax, trampling on all-round protests and people’s hopes of relief.
At the same time toll rates have also been increased by 10 to 15%.
Sahni said that hike in toll rates is bound to put additional burden on the devotees visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi along with the general public.
He said that before 2014, there used to be only one toll plaza between Jammu and Katra, but for the last few years toll plazas on this route have been increasing, now the devotees coming to Mata Vaishnodevi have to pay toll at three places. Sahni said Said that the work of repair and expansion of the Jammu-Srinagar NH National Highway is going on, due to the pathetic condition of the road.
Sahni said that toll collection should not be done till the repair and expansion work is completed. At the same time, the government will have to bear the brunt of its obstinate attitude regarding property tax.
