Jammu, July 1: Tarun Singla, President of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA), called on the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Surinder Choudhary, and held a positive and constructive discussion on the key issues concerning the existing industrial sector of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, Shri Singla highlighted the urgent need for a comprehensive policy framework to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of existing industries. He emphasized that while the Government is in the process of finalising the Industrial Policy, it is essential that the policy be finalized only after detailed consultations with all stakeholders so that it reflects the practical needs and aspirations of the industrial sector.
The discussion focused on several priority issues, including:
* Continuation of the SGST reimbursement/value addition incentive for existing industries.
* Turnover Incentive without any artificial cap, ensuring equal benefits to all eligible industries.
* Interest Subvention without capping, in line with actual interest costs incurred by industries.
* Early implementation of a progressive Warehousing Policy.
* Restoration and strengthening of the Freight Subsidy mechanism.
* Resolution of other critical issues affecting the growth and viability of existing industrial units.
The Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the concerns raised and assured that the Government is committed to adopting a consultative approach. He informed that a comprehensive meeting with all stakeholders would be convened shortly to deliberate upon these issues before taking a final view on the Industrial Policy and other support measures.
Speaking after the meeting, Shri Tarun Singla expressed confidence in the Government’s positive approach and appreciated the Deputy Chief Minister’s assurance of stakeholder consultations. He stated that BBIA looks forward to working closely with the Government in framing practical, industry-friendly policies that safeguard existing investments, promote industrial growth, generate employment, and strengthen the economy of Jammu & Kashmir.
