New Delhi, Aug 11: NDA MPs on Tuesday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi with tricolour flags and patriotic slogans as he arrived for the ruling coalition’s weekly parliamentary party meeting at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament House complex.
The gathering, titled ‘Mangal Milan’, brought together Union ministers, senior NDA leaders and MPs representing various constituent parties of the ruling alliance.
As Prime Minister Modi entered the auditorium at the Parliament Library, members greeted him by waving the national flag and chanting ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
Among those present were BJP president Nitin Nabin and Union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and S Jaishankar.
Several ministers representing NDA allies also attended the meeting, including HD Kumaraswamy of the JD(S), Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu of the TDP, Ramdas Athawale, Praful Patel, Upendra Kushwaha and Satabdi Roy, among others.
The NDA parliamentary party meeting is held every Tuesday during Parliament sessions, providing an opportunity for members of the ruling alliance to discuss legislative and political matters.
The Monsoon Session, which commenced on July 20, is scheduled to conclude on August 13. However, proceedings in both Houses have repeatedly been disrupted by opposition protests, limiting legislative business.
The opposition initially raised issues concerning the NEET paper leak and alleged irregularities involving donations to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Subsequently, opposition parties demanded discussions on police action against students protesting over the examination controversy.
They have also sought statements from Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the issues, leading to continued political confrontation during the session.
Despite the disruptions, Parliament has passed several Bills. Among them was the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, which was passed amid opposition protests.
Four other Bills were cleared by both Houses with limited debate, while three additional Bills were passed by the Lok Sabha as disruptions continued.
