Two Army Personnel Injured in Intense Gunfight with Terrorists in J&K’s Rajouri District

03-10-2023 : In an unfortunate incident, two army personnel sustained injuries during an encounter with terrorists in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter unfolded on Monday evening as a result of a cordon and search operation carried out by security forces in a forested region within the district.

The joint operation, conducted by the army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, had been initiated in response to intelligence reports of suspicious movement in the Broh and Soom forest areas in the Kalakote vicinity. Acting on this information, security forces swiftly cordoned off the area, with the intention of flushing out any potential threats.

As the security personnel closed in on the suspected terrorists, the militants opened fire in a bid to break the encirclement. This initiated a fierce exchange of gunfire between the two sides, resulting in injuries to two army personnel. Thankfully, both injured soldiers were promptly evacuated and taken to a hospital for treatment. Their condition has been reported as stable.

At present, it is believed that two terrorists remain trapped within the cordoned-off area. In response, additional reinforcements have been swiftly deployed to seal off any potential escape routes, further intensifying the operation.

A spokesperson for the defense forces has stated that the joint operation, centered around the Kalakote region, is being conducted with the aid of advanced technology to closely monitor the movements of the trapped terrorists. The operation is currently in full swing, with security forces determined to neutralize the threat and restore peace to the region.
