Dharmapuri, Mar 31: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday criticised the Union government, alleging that despite repeated visits by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state, there has been no adequate financial support or major project allocations.
Speaking at an election rally in the Harur Assembly constituency, Udhayanidhi claimed that the Centre has failed to meet the state’s funding demands. He urged voters to reject the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of neglecting Tamil Nadu’s development needs.
Campaigning for DMK candidate A Shanmugam, he highlighted that although the party lost the Harur seat in the 2021 Assembly elections, it continued to invest in the constituency. He pointed to infrastructure improvements, including road projects worth Rs 400 crore, healthcare facility upgrades, development in hill regions, and the establishment of an Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
Calling for electoral support, Udhayanidhi appealed to voters not to repeat past mistakes and to ensure a decisive win for the DMK candidate to accelerate development in the region.
Emphasising governance priorities, he stated that Tamil Nadu has achieved strong economic progress under Chief Minister M K Stalin, despite what he described as limited cooperation from the Centre. He added that continuity in leadership is essential for sustaining welfare schemes and overall growth, urging people to back the DMK for another term in power.
