Unemployed Youth demand age relaxation in recruitment as one time relaxation : Nimran appeal to LG Sinha

JAMMU, NOV 5: Nimrandeep Singh Bhullar, General Secretary J&K Pradesh Youth Congress criticized the callous attitude of the Jammu and Kashmir Government for not showing serious concern towards the problems being faced by youths.

Addressing a delegation of more than 250 unemployed youth from various districts of J&K, Nimrandeep Singh said that the unemployment among the youth was on the rise in Jammu and Kashmir owing to the anti-youth policies of the BJP Government. He said that unemployment is the result of the inefficiency, incompetence, and negative policies adopted by the Central Government towards youth and employment generation.

Singh said that since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic since 2019, the youth are facing serious consequences due to a lack of job opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that it is a cause of serious concern that the unemployed youth whose age has crossed 30, having any least opportunity for the government job. He mentioned that JKSSB has advertised UT Cadre 800 post of Sub Inspectors but the maximum age limit for applying for this job is 28 which is sheer injustice with the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir, who have not been provided a single opportunity since the outbreak of the Covid pandemic.

“The maximum age limit for the open merit aspirants in the recruitment of Sub Inspectors should be 35 years of age. The justification of fixing the maximum age limit to 28 is injustice with the unemployed youth,” he said. The youth who have waited for job opportunities in government services and the fixing age limit for them which has no justification in the prevailing circumstances in J&K, he added.

Singh mentioned there are several states in the Union Territory wherein the age criteria for belt forces are a maximum of 35 years. He emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir governments should also follow the other states as since the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A from the erstwhile state, youth are the major sufferer.

Singh along with Barinder Pratap Singh Bathyal JKPYC Secty. put forward the demands of unemployed youth and requested government to look into the matter for early redressal of the current issue related to their career future of youth.

Later, the unemployed youth headed by Nimrandeep Singh Bhullar submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sh Anshul Garg in support of their demands. He also mentioned said the unemployed youth will also submit a copy of the memorandum in each district headquarters / Sub-Division Headquarters and Tehsil Headquarters of Jammu & Kashmir.

Singh further that it is the youth and their employment which is always in the election manifesto of all the political parties, but unfortunately when these political parties came to the power, at that time these political parties and their representatives started ignoring them.

Singh also appealed to the LG’s administration to look into this matter related to the age relaxation and listen to their views for early redressal, as unemployed youth delegation tried their level best and unfortunately didn’t seek time from LG Sahab. He appealed to Lt Governor to give unemployed youth a Diwali bonus by giving them one-time age relaxation in the JKP SI recruitment exam, as in many states the age bar of these said exams is 33 and 35 as well.

Those who accompanied Singh were Shezad Choudhary, Rajeshwar Singh, Gourav Singh, Jatinder Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Anshuman Singh, Amit Verma, Ishfaq Parrey, Musadiq Badana, Balwinder Choudhary, Bishan Kumar, Basharat Ahmed, Shoukat Assab, Vaneet, Trilochan Singh and many others were present.
