Chennai: Vijay Sethupathi’s 2024 Tamil crime thriller Maharaja is set to receive a Hollywood remake, marking another step in the film’s journey toward a wider international audience.
The remake plans were confirmed by one of the film’s producers, who revealed that the project is being developed for the Hollywood market.
Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja starred Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role and was released in 2024. The film follows a barber whose search for a missing possession leads him into a complex and violent mystery.
The original movie received significant attention for its storytelling and performances and became one of Sethupathi’s notable recent releases.
The Hollywood adaptation is expected to introduce the core story to a new audience while developing it for an international production setting. Details regarding the cast, director and release schedule of the remake have not yet been announced.
