The protest was led by JKPYC General Secretary Anirudh Sawhney and NSUI President Ajay Lakhotra. A large number of Youth Congress workers gathered at the site, raising slogans against the BJP and holding placards denouncing the remarks. Secretaries Amir Malik and Showkat Ali, Tanveer Singh, Moulik Sharma, Tanveer Singh AYC President Mehul Abrol, NSUI Leaders Sandeep Singh balwal, Adnan, Jagdeep, kuldeep, Rajan and others.
J&K Youth Congress General Secretary Anirudh Sawhney, strongly criticized the remarks, stating that such language reflects the deteriorating standards of political discourse within the BJP. He said that targeting a leader of Sonia Gandhi’s stature with such crude statements is deeply condemnable and reveals the BJP’s frustration in the face of growing opposition. Sawhney asserted that the Youth Congress will continue to stand firmly against any attempt to malign senior leaders or divert attention from real public issues.
Sawhney further stated that the BJP is deliberately trying to mislead the public by projecting the delimitation exercise under the guise of women’s reservation. He termed it a calculated move aimed at confusing citizens and avoiding accountability. He emphasized that instead of addressing genuine concerns, BJP leaders are resorting to provocative and irresponsible statements, adding that the Youth Congress will continue to expose such tactics at every level.
NSUI President Ajay Lakhotra also condemned the remarks, stating that such statements are an outright insult to senior leadership and democratic values. He said that the strong turnout of Youth Congress workers in the protest reflects the anger among the youth against the BJP’s approach. Lakhotra added that the organization will not remain silent when respected leaders are targeted with such unacceptable language.
Lakhotra further asserted that the BJP is attempting to shift focus from critical policy issues by indulging in unnecessary controversies. He stated that the attempt to disguise the delimitation bill as a women’s reservation measure is a betrayal of public trust and must be challenged. He warned that if such remarks continue, the Youth Congress will intensify its protests in the coming days to hold the BJP accountable.
