Awarapan 2 Surges at Box Office, Crosses ₹66 Crore Worldwide in Two Days

Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani’s actio -romance sequel records a strong second-day jump and continues to lead the Independence Day weekend race.

NEW DELHI, Aug 16: Emraan Hashmi starrer Awarapan 2 has maintained its strong momentum at the box office, crossing the ₹66 crore mark worldwide within two days of its theatrical release.

The sequel, which arrived in cinemas on August 14, witnessed a significant rise in audience response on Saturday. The film’s second-day performance helped it remain ahead of competing releases during the extended Independence Day weekend.

Starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, the movie has generated considerable interest among fans of the original Awarapan, which was released in 2007. The latest instalment marks Hashmi’s return to the franchise nearly two decades after the first film.

The strong theatrical response has also sparked conversations about a possible continuation of the series. During a promotional visit to a theatre, Hashmi hinted at the possibility of Awarapan 3, telling enthusiastic fans that he hoped the next instalment could arrive soon. However, no official announcement regarding a third film has been made.

The film’s performance comes amid a busy weekend at Indian cinemas, with several major releases competing for audiences. Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, another prominent Independence Day release, also recorded a substantial improvement in its second-day earnings.

With the holiday weekend continuing, Awarapan 2 will be closely watched to see whether it can maintain its pace and strengthen its position among the season’s major releases.
