Jammu, Mar 10: The body of a soldier who went missing during a river crossing training drill in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district was recovered on Tuesday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Akshit Sharma. His body was found in the Manawar stream by a joint search team comprising personnel from the Indian Army, the National Disaster Response Force, and local rescuers in the Khour area during a morning operation.
According to officials, the soldier had been reported missing around noon on Monday while participating in a river-crossing exercise in the general area of Sundarbani.
Following the incident, extensive search operations were launched using available resources from both the Army and civil authorities. The coordinated effort continued overnight before the body was finally retrieved from the stream on Tuesday morning.
