KOLKATA, Sept 7: IIT Kharagpur has inaugurated a new phase of its Common Research and Technology Development Hub (CRTDH) focused on affordable and sustainable healthcare solutions, with the initiative aimed at turning scientific research into accessible medical technologies.
The initiative was inaugurated on Monday in the presence of Dr N Kalaiselvi, Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
The healthcare focused hub is designed to support research that can address practical medical challenges while keeping costs under control. It will also seek to strengthen cooperation between academic institutions, industries and policymakers.
Focus on Accessible Medical Innovation
The programme is intended to bridge the gap between laboratory research and real-world healthcare applications by supporting translational research and technology development.
Researchers and industry partners will have an opportunity to collaborate on solutions that could improve healthcare delivery, particularly for communities where access to advanced medical technologies remains limited.
The initiative also places emphasis on sustainable healthcare innovation, reflecting the growing need for medical technologies that are not only effective but also affordable and scalable.
By bringing researchers and industry stakeholders together, IIT Kharagpur aims to create a stronger ecosystem for developing indigenous healthcare technologies and accelerating their adoption.
