J&K delimitation process aimed at Hindu majority, says Abdullah

Srinagar, Feb 14: JKNC MP Farooq Abdullah reacted to Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on the restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday by saying that the government will grant a truncated statehood following elections.

The issue of Jammu and Kashmir regaining statehood would be discussed following the assembly elections, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Election Commission will decide when to hold elections.

“I had made it very clear that after the elections, statehood would be restored in Jammu and Kashmir. In the UT, the process of creating the voters’ list is almost finished. Election decisions must now be made by the Election Commission, according to Shah in a Tuesday news agency exclusive interview.

The previous chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir responded by stating that he believes the government does not want to provide statehood. After the elections, they would grant truncated statehood, he continued.

Abdullah also asserted that the goal of the delimitation process, which was finished in UT, was to make J-K a state with a Hindu majority.

They believe us to be idiots, but we are not. We are aware of their intentions because they would not have carried out delimitation in such a thorough and effective manner if that were not their goal. They want it changed into a state with a Hindu majority, he continued.

In a previous interview with a news agency, Shah added that the country had suffered as a result of the BJP-led government’s 2019 decision to repeal Jammu and Kashmir’s Article 370.

According to him, terrorism is gradually coming to an end due to the manner development is happening in Jammu and Kashmir. There has been significant change in Jammu and Kashmir, he remarked, citing all the statistics.

He continued by saying that the BJP and Jan Sangh had been working on repealing Article 370. In relation to Article 370, he also brought up Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister.

“Since 1950, we have wanted to do rid of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The way Jammu and Kashmir is developing and seeing a decline in terrorism now indicates that improvements are on the way, he said.

The critics of the BJP, according to Shah, need to explain during whose rule terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir increased.

“In terms of elections, do they not recall the local body elections that were held during our time and were not held for 70 years? In Jammu and Kashmir, three families were in charge and they were making noise. In England, Farooq Abdullah had relocated. There should be an explanation for how and during which administration terrorism increased, he said.
